Gladys Giberson

I came to La Center in February 1936 from Nebraska with my parents and younger brother and sister. My family had 80 acres in Nebraska. Then came the dust storms and drought. Dad bought forty acres in the Lindholm area.

I attended school in La Center. I was a sophomore. Our class of 1938 was the last one in the old school, which is now a parking lot behind the New Phoenix.

I married George Giberson in 1940. We had 120 acres on Jenny Creek Road. We have 4 children who all graduated from La Center Schools. When George died in 1980, I started volunteering as a Foster Grandma at the primary school. I did this for twenty-five years. I have had lots of fun with the kids. I am 89 years old and La Center is a great place to live.
